Contests
There are many photography contests around the Orange County Area. Fairs, town festivals, banks and other businesses give out awards for photography. We'll list them here when we learn about them. If you are aware of any contests please contact Jeff Montanye at
jmontanye@digitalworldofphotography.com or call 845-361-2029.

Bank Calendars
I have seen some local banks hold a photo contest for their annual calendars but I cannot remember which corporations they were. If you know of any please contact me.
The Mid-Hudson Valley Credit Union holds such a contest each year but it is only available for their members.
Pine Island Farmer's Market
In 2011 Pine Island Farmer's Market held a photo contest with images from the Black Dirt area. At the time they were anticipating it to be an annual event but I have not heard if they are going to repeat the contest this year.
Times Herald Record Photo of the day
The Middletown Times Herald Record has a photo of the day photo contest. They judge the photos entered and place the best on their website every day. At the end of the month everybody votes on the best photo of the month and at the end of the year everybody votes on the photo of the year. The prize is a $200 gift certificate from the current sponsor.
A word of caution, when you send in your photo you agree that the Times Herald Record can use the photo in any way they want to. Also, since the contest is decided by popular vote it becomes a popularity contest, not a photo contest. Don't expect to win because you have the best picture. You're only going to win if you get a lot of people to vote for your photo. This is done for the sole purpose of getting you to bring them more business. They couldn't care less about how good your photo is. But it is cool to see your photo get chosen as a photo of the day.
